About Charlotte Broady
British designer of luxury silk scarves inspired by nature
Hello, I'm Charlotte.
I'm a British designer creating luxury silk scarves inspired by my own original photography. Every design begins with a photograph I've taken, whether it's the delicate structure of a fading flower, light sparkling across water, the intricate pattern of a cobweb or the changing colours of leaves throughout the seasons. Those fleeting moments are transformed into elegant silk scarves, designed and made in England in limited editions.
My hope is that each piece captures not only the beauty of nature, but also a sense of calm, individuality and timeless style. I've always been drawn to the quieter details that many people walk past. A tulip that's beginning to fade often fascinates me more than one in full bloom. It's at this stage that the petals curl, the colours soften and the fine veins within each petal emerge, revealing extraordinary patterns that would otherwise go unnoticed.
Living in the Oxfordshire countryside provides endless inspiration. Much of it comes from my cottage garden, where the changing seasons bring flowers, seed heads, blossom and leaves that become the starting point for new designs. Beyond the garden, walks through woodland, across fields and beside water reveal reflections, textures and shifting light that often inspire an entirely new collection. Photography allows me to preserve these brief moments before transforming them into silk scarves that celebrate the remarkable beauty found in the natural world.
Every Charlotte Broady scarf begins with one of my own photographs. Unlike traditional textile designers who sketch or paint patterns, I work directly from images I've captured myself. Each photograph is carefully refined into a design that works beautifully on silk, with every decision about colour, scale and composition made to ensure the finished scarf feels balanced, elegant and effortless to wear. Because every design starts with an original photograph, each collection is entirely unique. No two moments in nature are ever quite the same, and I hope that sense of individuality remains within every scarf.
Designed with care, made to last
Every Charlotte Broady scarf is designed in my Oxfordshire home and professionally printed and finished in England using exceptional quality fabrics. I choose luxurious silk for its beautiful drape, softness and ability to reveal colour with remarkable depth and clarity. Whether it's classic silk twill with its elegant structure, lightweight silk georgette with its graceful movement or the gentle warmth of silk and modal, every fabric is chosen to complement the design from which it was created. Rather than producing large quantities, my scarves are made in small editions. This allows each collection to retain a sense of exclusivity and means many designs become treasured pieces.
Although fashion changes from season to season, I've always believed that beautiful design should endure. Rather than following short-lived trends, I create scarves that can be worn and enjoyed for many years, becoming trusted favourites that return to your wardrobe time and again. Whether worn simply over the shoulders, tied neatly at the neck or wrapped around a coat on a crisp autumn morning, a beautifully made silk scarf has a quiet way of bringing colour, confidence and personality to an outfit.
A lasting connection with nature
Some of my favourite designs have come from the simplest discoveries: morning dew suspended on a cobweb, sunlight filtering through flower petals, the delicate skeleton of an autumn leaf or light dancing across the surface of water. These moments often last only a few minutes before they disappear. Through photography they can be preserved, and through silk they can be enjoyed for many years to come.
My hope is that every Charlotte Broady scarf offers more than colour or pattern. I hope it reminds its wearer to notice the beauty in everyday moments, to slow down occasionally, and to carry a small piece of the natural world wherever life takes them.
Thank you for visiting my website and for taking the time to discover my work. I hope you enjoy exploring the collection as much as I've enjoyed creating it.
